For my mentor interview. Valeria and I decided to combine seven questions together for the purpose of not having to contact two separate interviews. One of my first take aways is when we asked the question “Did you attend college? ..if so, Where did you attend college? How did you make that choice?”. My mentor, Mario Mesquita respond by saying.“However, financially I wasn't going to be covering all of it. So those two factors together. I decided to stay. after that I graduated then I worked for seven years before I decided to go to grad school.” I thought that this was reassuring because I always feel like I have to go somewhere far in order to get a good education. Since I am, sort of in the same situation he was in when he was a teenager it made me feel better. Knowing that if I can't go to a school because if financial issues, it’ll be fine. Another quite that mymentor said was. “I encouraged students despite sometimes challenges with their family that they may have had. that by going to college and taking these classes and sometimes it was difficult that they could move beyond that and aspire to whatever careers they were thinking about.” He was responding to the question “What is a highlight from your career?”. I thought it was really cool how he thought that helping people go into the right direction was one of his”Highlights”. It made me think about how soon. In senior year I will probably be really stressed out with applying to colleges. I thought that I will need to talk to other people so I don't have to stress out as much.
