This year as a junior in high school I've seen a lot of improvement in my writing compared to the past two years at high tech where we constantly write a lot about our own experiences. I have evolved as a writer by constantly looking at the critique that i received this year from both peers and teachers and actually incorporating it to make my work better. Last year I wouldn't have taken the critique into consideration and just do my own thing but now that I'm taking critique seriously I've noticed that my project work has improved so much from last year. I have noticed that I am developing my own writing style this year. I’ve been adding so much detail in my writing ,in hopes that when the audience is listening to me read my story they can picture it perfectly in their mind and have a deeper personal connection to the story and what I've gone through.
exceptions My expectations for humanities this year was to learn how to preform my story in front of an audience because I knew that we were going to do the power within project from Mrs.Nuvia's class doing the same the year before us.
memorable moment For The Power Within project I was able to follow one of my teachers writing tips. This tip is called a “Brain dump” & that's where I wrote down EVERYTHING that takes place in my story from beginning to end, adding in tiny details that did not necessarily need to be there. Then going over it once I am done and seeing which parts of the story that should or shouldn't be there. This helped me because I was able to have a little healing time while doing the brain dump. this thing that happened to me was something that I constantly pushed away, pretending I was fine with the people that did this to me. With this project I was able to let them know how I truly felt, without calling the out on it or going up to them in person and talking to them about it because I won't be able to face them. I don't think they have the right to see me in a vulnerable position again from what they put me through.
